With 30 minutes remaining before his 2:15 ET deadline, former President Donald J. Trump removed the nine Truth Social posts – many of which referenced Jonathan Turley’s New York Post op-ed, which excoriated Michael Cohen, calling him a “serial perjurer” – which NY judge Juan Merchan had found to be in breach of a gag order laid against him.
Merchan declared Trump to be in contempt of court earlier today, requiring him to pay $9k (or $1,000 for each post) and threatening him with jail should he be found in contempt again.
However, Merchan allowed one of the posts the prosecution claimed contravened the gag order, which referred to Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels as “sleaze bags.”
