In response to the flood in Brazil, Elon Musk’s Starlink has stepped in to provide essential communication support by donating 1,000 communication terminals to emergency responders. This will help maintain crucial communication channels for disaster management and recovery efforts. Starlink has committed to waiving the service fees for these terminals to ensure uninterrupted service as the region works towards recovery. This support is critical as many areas have experienced significant disruptions in internet and telephone services, with major providers struggling to maintain connectivity.
Given the terrible flooding in Rio Grande do Sul, @Starlink will donate 1000 terminals to emergency responders and make usage for all terminals in the region free until the region has recovered.

The severe floods in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which began in late April 2024, have led to catastrophic damage and are considered the worst the country has seen in over 80 years. The disaster has affected over 500,000 people who are currently without power and clean water. Additionally, the region has seen extensive damage across 401 of its 497 municipalities with many roads, bridges destroyed, and landslides occurring. The flooding was intensified by the collapse of a hydroelectric dam after days of heavy rainfall, which triggered a massive flood-wave, further exacerbating the disaster.
