Former President Donald J. Trump is slated to speak at the upcoming Libertarian Party convention in Washington, D.C., later this month, as confirmed by his campaign on Wednesday.
Scheduled for May 25th, Trump’s address aims to engage with members of the party and discuss their concerns, according to a statement released by the Libertarian Party. The convention, spanning May 23rd to 26th at a D.C. hotel, serves as the platform for the party’s presidential ticket nomination.
In anticipation of the event, Trump expressed his appreciation for the Libertarian Party’s commitment to independent thinking, stating, “Libertarians are some of the most independent and thoughtful thinkers in our Country, and I am honored to join them in Washington, DC, later this month.” He emphasized the need to collaborate in advancing freedom and liberty for all Americans, underscoring the potential for achieving this under a hypothetical second Trump administration.
While both the presumptive GOP nominee and President Biden were invited to speak at the convention, only Trump has confirmed his attendance, with Biden not slated to make an appearance.
Notable figures set to join Trump at the convention include cardiologist and epidemiologist Dr. Peter McCullough, comedian Dave Smith, Julian Assange’s brother Gabriel Shipton, entrepreneur Robert Breedlove, and economist Mark Skousen.
Trump’s participation underscores his efforts to appeal to third-party voters as he seeks victory in November. He emphasized the potential synergy between Libertarian and Republican views, suggesting that such alignment could decisively impact the election outcome.
The convention’s agenda spans four days, encompassing various events, award presentations, and culminating in the nomination of the party’s White House ticket. This marks a significant milestone for the Libertarian Party, with Chair Angela McArdle expressing enthusiasm over Trump’s participation and the opportunity it presents to, in her words, “advance the message of liberty.”
