During a speech at a trade union conference in Washington, D.C., President Biden appeared to have a verbal slip-up while reading from a teleprompter on Wednesday. While delivering a section of his remarks, he incorporated script instructions, resulting in an awkward moment where he paused mid-sentence, then chuckled. The president was at the conference to receive an endorsement from the North American Building Trades Unions (NABTU).
In his speech, Biden criticized former President Donald Trump’s record on unions and economic policies, labeling them as anti-union and favoring the wealthy. He contrasted his own economic agenda, dubbed the “Scranton” plan, with Trump’s, referred to as the “Mar-a-Lago” plan, referencing their respective backgrounds.
This mix-up adds to a series of verbal missteps made by the president, including one on Tuesday during a Florida campaign rally, where he mistakenly said, “we can’t be trusted,” while criticizing Trump’s stance on abortion. Despite some laughter from the audience, Biden continued without acknowledging the error.
