Cardi B, the rapper known for her explicit lyrics and outspoken political views, has announced that she will not be endorsing Joe Biden or any presidential candidate in the 2024 election. This marks a significant shift from her 2020 endorsement of Biden, highlighting growing dissatisfaction even among leftist celebrities.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Cardi B expressed her disappointment with Biden’s presidency and criticized America’s international policies. “I feel like people got betrayed,” she said, reflecting on the unmet expectations of Biden’s administration. “It’s just like, damn, y’all not caring about anybody. Then, it really gets me upset that there are solutions to it. There is a solution. I know there’s a solution because you’re spending billions of dollars on any f—king thing.”
Cardi B also condemned America’s role in global conflicts, stating, “[America] don’t pay for endless wars for countries that have been going through s— for a very long time.” She criticized the U.S. for not aiding countries that don’t offer direct benefits, adding, “I don’t like that America has this superhero cape on. We never did things to be superheroes. We did things for our own convenience.”
Her disillusionment with the Biden administration comes after a significant budget reduction in New York last year, which impacted schools, public libraries, and the police department. Cardi B voiced her frustration on social media, highlighting the $120 million budget cut and its effects. “I need you to spread this video. And if something happens to me, it’s because I’m speaking truth. So God forbid something happens to me or my family or some sht because ngg*s is after me because I’m speaking the truth.”
She contrasted these domestic budget cuts with the Biden administration’s spending on international military operations. “Joe Biden’s talking about like, ‘Yeah, we could fund two wars. We could fund two wars, motherfkers.’ Talking about we don’t got it, but we got it. Like, we’re the greatest nation. No, the fk we’re not. We’re going through some sh*t right now. Like, say it! We really are f**ked right now.”
In 2020, Cardi B had urged black voters to support Biden, advocating for “free” Medicare and college tuition, and asking Biden to ease up on taxes during an interview for Elle Magazine. However, her recent comments indicate a stark reversal in her stance, reflecting broader dissatisfaction with the current administration.
This development underscores a growing trend of disillusionment with the Biden administration among various demographics, including celebrities who were previously vocal supporters.
