President Joe Biden delivered remarks on Friday at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, aiming to increase support among black voters. This effort comes as Biden’s support among this demographic has been declining.
During his speech, Biden stated, “My name’s Joe Biden and I’m a lifetime member of the NAACP.” At one point, he mentioned his concern about speaking too freely, saying, “I’ll just slow up for just one second here, ad lib a little bit here, because I’m gonna get in trouble.”

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has seen a significant increase in support from black voters, more than doubling his support compared to the previous election cycle. This shift has created challenges for the Democratic Party, which has traditionally relied on strong support from black voters.
This is another instance of Biden pausing during a speech to collect himself, fearing he might say something he could regret. Throughout his presidency, his reliance on the teleprompter has been evident. Without it, he often seems either at a loss for words or prone to saying things that get him into trouble. Even with the teleprompter, he frequently makes gaffes and slip-ups.
