Late-night host Jimmy Fallon humorously skewered President Joe Biden’s recent debate announcement, highlighting the president’s less-than-coherent delivery and the irony of the debate’s conditions.
Biden accepted a CNN debate invitation for June 27 in Atlanta, Georgia, moderated by Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, and another debate on ABC News slated for September 10. Former President Donald Trump announced his acceptance of the debates via Truth Social, referring to Biden as “Crooked Joe” and calling him “the WORST PRESIDENT in the History of the United States and a true Threat to Democracy.”
Biden responded, “I’ve received and accepted an invitation from CNN for a debate on June 27th. Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place.”
However, the real punchline came when Biden released a video where he appeared less than coherent, mumbling through his challenge to Trump.
Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020. Since then, he hasn’t shown up for a debate.
Now he’s acting like he wants to debate me again.

Fallon seized the moment to highlight the ironies and incongruities in Biden’s campaign strategy.
“The first debate will be next month, which is the earliest presidential debate has ever been. An early bird debate feels right for these guys,” Fallon joked, poking fun at the timing of the debate.
Fallon also mocked Biden’s debate conditions: “Biden and Trump will meet June 27th on CNN, and one of Biden’s conditions was not having an audience. So that explains why it’s on CNN.” This comment was a pointed dig at CNN’s declining viewership, which has dropped significantly since Trump left office.
The Tonight Show host didn’t stop there. He also highlighted Biden’s request for microphones that cut off after a candidate’s time limit is reached, saying, “I suppose that’s one way to avoid hearing ‘Come on, man!’ every five minutes. But let’s be real: The only ‘cut-off’ Biden should worry about is his bedtime.”
Fallon continued to dissect Biden’s performance in the video where Joe Biden challenged Trump to the debates, mimicking Biden’s challenge with exaggerated slurred speech and adding, “Thank goodness he had subtitles, right?”
NEW: Late night host Jimmy Fallon trolls Biden for being a mumbling mess during his debate announcement, says Biden wants the debate on CNN because they have no audience.

Fallon’s commentary reflects broader scrutiny and criticism surrounding Biden’s debate preparation and speaking abilities as he gears up for these highly anticipated debates.
