State Senator Kevin Parker had to be restrained by onlookers after he shoved Albany lobbyist Michael Carey out of a committee room, sources told The Post. The incident occurred before the Energy and Telecommunications Committee meeting on Wednesday.
According to these sources, Parker and Carey were engaged in an impassioned conversation when Parker grabbed Carey by the chest and pushed him out of the room. The altercation prompted a quick response from security personnel with the Senate sergeant-at-arms and state police.
The New York State Police confirmed they are investigating the incident. Parker’s spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.
This incident adds to a series of violent episodes involving Parker. In 2005, he was charged with misdemeanor assault after slugging a traffic cop who was writing him a ticket. A few years later, Parker attacked a Post photographer, smashing his camera outside Parker’s Brooklyn home.
Additionally, Parker is facing a lawsuit under the Adult Survivors Act (ASA) from a woman accusing him of raping her in 2004. Parker denies the charges and argues that the ASA, which he voted for, is unconstitutional.
