Make America Great Again, Inc. (MAGA Inc.), a SuperPAC supporting former President Donald Trump, has established a presence on TikTok using the handle @MAGA. This move marks the first time an entity connected to Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee for 2024, has joined the video-sharing social media platform. Officials from MAGA Inc. conveyed to Fox News Digital that TikTok will serve as an additional platform to disseminate Trump campaign messaging, rapid responses, and content supporting Trump’s election efforts for 2024.
Taylor Budowich, CEO of MAGA Inc., stated that TikTok’s vast user base makes it a strategic platform to promote Trump’s “pro-freedom, pro-America agenda,” emphasizing the distribution of relevant facts and stories. This initiative comes amidst ongoing debates in the U.S. regarding the future of TikTok, driven by concerns about its parent company, ByteDance, and its connections to the Chinese Communist Party. Despite these concerns, and a new U.S. law mandating the sale of TikTok to a non-Chinese-controlled entity to avoid a ban, MAGA Inc. has chosen to utilize the platform for its campaign efforts.
Budowich highlighted the broader context of “Big Tech” and alleged election interference, asserting that the campaign aims to challenge such narratives and not concede any digital platform to opposing political forces. The SuperPAC’s initial posts on TikTok critique the current economic policies under President Biden and target political figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., underscoring their past associations and positions.
TikTok and ByteDance are actively challenging the new U.S. legislation. They filed a lawsuit seeking to block the law, arguing that divesting TikTok’s recommendation engine, essential to its success, is not feasible due to technological, commercial, and legal constraints. ByteDance also highlighted its significant investment in securing American user data and maintaining platform integrity. TikTok’s CEO, Shou Zi Chew, expressed confidence in the platform’s legal standing and future in the U.S.
